How do I book a travel clinic appointment in Aberdeen?

We recommend you contact us at least 6 weeks prior to travelling as some vaccinations may require specific timings and dosages. However if this is not possible, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will do our best to mitigate your risks.
On the day of your appointment please bring a copy of your vaccination history (this can usually be requested from your GP practice).

Is the travel clinic consultation free?
Yes. Our travel health consultation is completely free. There is no consultation fee, no booking fee and no obligation to proceed. You only pay for any vaccinations or medications you decide to have.
Do you offer evening or weekend travel clinic appointments in Aberdeen?
Yes. We are quite flexible with our private travel clinic appointments. These can be arranged outside our standard NHS opening hours, including evenings and weekends. Let us know your preferred time on the booking form and we will do our best to accommodate you.
How much do travel vaccinations cost at Waverley Pharmacy Aberdeen?
The consultation is free. Our travel vaccination prices per dose are: diphtheria/tetanus/polio £37, typhoid £37, hepatitis A £57, hepatitis B £45 (3 doses, £135 total), meningitis ACWY £60, rabies £99 (3 doses, £297 total), tick-borne encephalitis £65 (2 to 3 doses), cholera £40 (2 doses, £80 total), Japanese encephalitis £100 (2 doses, £200 total). Antimalarials: atovaquone and proguanil £2.50 per tablet, doxycycline 100mg 50p per capsule. You only pay for what you choose to have.
Do you provide the meningitis ACWY certificate for Hajj and Umrah?
Yes. A valid meningitis ACWY certificate is required before arriving in Saudi Arabia for both Hajj and Umrah, for all pilgrims aged 1 year and over. We provide the vaccination and the certificate at our Aberdeen city centre pharmacy for £60, with a free consultation. The certificate is only valid from 10 days after vaccination, so please allow enough time before you travel.
Do you offer the yellow fever vaccine in Aberdeen?
We are not yet a designated yellow fever centre. If your destination requires yellow fever, we will let you know at your free consultation and advise you on where to obtain it.
How far in advance should I book a travel clinic appointment?
We recommend booking at least 6 weeks before your travel date, as some vaccinations require specific timing or multiple doses spread over several weeks. If you are travelling sooner, please contact us anyway and we will do our best to protect you with whatever time you have available.
Do you offer malaria tablets in Aberdeen?
Yes. Following a free consultation, our prescribing pharmacist can recommend and prescribe the most appropriate antimalarial for your destination and medical history. We supply atovaquone and proguanil at £2.50 per tablet and doxycycline 100mg capsules at 50p per capsule. Course length is tailored to you, your destination and travel duration.
Do I need a GP referral for the travel clinic?
No. You can book your free consultation directly online without a GP referral. Our GPhC registered prescribing pharmacist will carry out a full travel health assessment and provide any required vaccinations or medications onsite.
What should I bring to my travel clinic appointment?
Please bring your vaccination history if possible this can usually be requested from your GP. Also have your full itinerary and travel dates to hand, including any stopovers, as these may affect which vaccinations or antimalarials are recommended.
Can you vaccinate employees travelling for work?
Yes. We provide occupational travel vaccinations for Aberdeen employers, including energy sector staff travelling to West Africa, Central Asia and the Middle East. We can arrange block bookings, invoiced billing and vaccination records for your workforce. Please contact us to discuss a corporate account.
Is the travel clinic open to patients from outside Aberdeen?
Yes, of course. We welcome patients from across Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and beyond. You do not need to be a registered patient at Waverley Pharmacy to use the travel clinic.
