Weight Loss Tablets in Aberdeen — Wegovy Oral Semaglutide
We also offer oral semaglutide (aka Wegovy), for eligible patients, a once daily pill alternative to weight loss injections. Approved by the MHRA in June 2026, it contains the same active ingredient as the Wegovy injection, working by reducing appetite.
Taken as a daily tablet, it's a needle free option for people who'd rather avoid injections. Since it is prescription only medication it can only be supplied following a clinical assessment by our GPhC registered independent prescribing pharmacist, and only where clinically appropriate.
Weight Loss Clinic FAQs
What's the difference between the Wegovy tablet and the injection?
Both contain the same active ingredient, semaglutide, and work the same way to reduce appetite. The injection is taken once a week; the tablet once a day. The tablet suits people who'd prefer to avoid needles, but must be swallowed whole on an empty stomach after fasting overnight (at least 8 hours), with a small sip of water, followed by a 30 minute wait before any food, drink or other medicines. Our pharmacist will talk you through this at your appointment so you get the most from your treatment.
Can I switch from my injection to the tablet?
In many cases, yes. Our pharmacist will review your treatment and advise.
Which weight loss tablet is right for me: Wegovy or Foundayo?
Both are once-daily GLP-1 tablets. Wegovy showed greater average weight loss in clinical trials, but must be taken on an empty stomach after an overnight fast, followed by a 30-minute wait before eating, drinking or taking other medicines. Foundayo can be taken at any time, with or without food. Our prescribing pharmacist will help you choose the right option at your consultation if clinically appropriate.
Can I book an appointment if I live outside Aberdeen city centre?

Do I need a GP referral to book?
No. You can book directly through our website or by calling the pharmacy. No referral is needed.
How long will it take to see results?
