Weight Loss Tablets in Aberdeen — Wegovy Oral Semaglutide
We now offer the UK's first weight loss tablet, oral semaglutide (aka Wegovy), for eligible patients, a once daily pill alternative to weight loss injections. Approved by the MHRA in June 2026, it contains the same active ingredient as the Wegovy injection, helping to reduce appetite and cravings so you feel fuller for longer.
Taken as a daily tablet, it's a needle free option for people who'd rather avoid injections. Since it is prescription only medication it can only be supplied following a clinical assessment by our GPhC registered independent prescribing pharmacist, and only where clinically appropriate.
What's the difference between the Wegovy tablet and the injection?
Both contain the same active ingredient, semaglutide, and work the same way to reduce appetite. The injection is taken once a week; the tablet once a day. The tablet suits people who'd prefer to avoid needles, but must be swallowed whole on an empty stomach after fasting overnight (at least 8 hours), with a small sip of water, followed by a 30-minute wait before any food, drink or other medicines. Our pharmacist will talk you through this at your appointment so you get the most from your treatment.
Can I switch from my injection to the tablet?
In many cases, yes. Our pharmacist will review your treatment and advise (higher tablet strengths are arriving shortly).
What weight loss medications are available at Waverley Pharmacy?
Subject to clinical eligibility, we can prescribe GLP-1 medications such as Mounjaro (tirzepatide) and Wegovy injections and tablets (semaglutide) and Orlistat. Our pharmacist will assess your suitability based on your BMI, health history, and current medications.
Do I need a GP referral to book?
No. You can book directly through our website or by calling the pharmacy. No referral is needed.
How long will it take to see results?
This varies person to person, but many patients begin to see meaningful changes within 4–8 weeks when combining medication with lifestyle adjustments. We'll set realistic expectations from day one.
Is the consultation confidential?
Absolutely. All appointments are conducted privately, and your information is handled in line with GDPR and pharmacy confidentiality standards.
Can I book an appointment if I live outside Aberdeen city centre?
Yes, we serve patients from across Aberdeen and the surrounding areas.
